A Water Solution

Our most important initiative is to have sufficient income to fund our current water needs and establish a reliable local source of water.  An minimum of approximately 734,000 Ksch / 14,235 USD are required as follows:

  • 7,500 Ksch / 90 USD is the monthly cost for Mothers to secure water in town.

  • 150,000 Ksch / 1,800 USD is the approx. of a water tank, a potential donation which is currently being discussed with AMREF. Water management training to avoid the proliferation of cholera, malaria and related diseases is of key importance in this discussion.

  • 12,000 Ksch / 145 USD is the monthly cost for water tank replenishment.

  • 300,000 Ksch / 3,615 USD is the approx. cost for a water well, and 50,000 Ksch / 600 USD the approx. cost for an electric pump.

  • The most effective long-term solution to our water crisis is to bring piped water to our Manyatta. The feasibility and cost of this solution has yet to be explored and included in these costs.

Sanitation & Health

Personal Hygiene & Disease Prevention:

To achieve the goal of reducing healthcare costs at our Manyatta, basic healthcare and personal hygiene education needs to be implemented in conjunction with the use of malaria nets, shoes for kids, toothbrushes, toilets and showers. Our huts also require fumigation to minimize flies, bugs and other animals. The smoke from the wood in our kitchens needs to be minimized along with ventilation increased. Two first aid kits with basic medicines is now in place to address minor issues before they become serious problems.

The estimated costs for our basic healthcare items and infrastructure is 284,120 Ksch / 3,423 as follows:
