Education

The School:

With the green light from the local Ministry of Education, this September, 2013 our Moran Chief and Chief Advisor started a nursery for the almost 100 children currently not attending school.  With donated funds covering start up costs, the children are initially learning under a tree from educated resident volunteer Morans, including our Chief Advisor himself. We believe the opening of our school not only gives hope to our entire community but also helps raise awareness of the challenges we face. We are convinced our humble "School under a Tree" will also facilitate the continuous growth and the eventual construction of a facility that will have 2-4 classrooms and Kenya’s first Maasai Manyatta Children Community Library.

Our permanent learning facility will be built next to the Manyatta, on Maasai land that will be exclusively dedicated for such purpose through the issuance of a certificate signed by our Chief and the Group Ranch Chairman. Our Group Ranch Chairman is a Maasai Elder who is based nearby Loitikitok in the town of Entarara and for the past 10 years has been in charge for of all Maasai land.

Scholarship Program:

To facilitate education opportunities for children having difficulty financing their education, a scholarship program will be set up with funds from self-funded initiatives, grants for which we apply and any donated funds. We are assessing the needs of our children and will prioritize awarding of funds to the most deserving children with the best of grades. Our preliminary budget below is to fund only a preliminary initial quantity of students, as the need is much greater:
